{Somewhere In Time-Inspired Elopement} Sally & Jim
Happy Wedding Wednesday!
Today, prepare to step back in time for an unique, offbeat elopement that completely captured my heart. Here to take us on the journey back in time is Paul Retherford Wedding Photography:
The ever adorable Sally & Jim are big fans of the movie, Somewhere in Time, a romantic time travel fantasy starring Christopher Reeve & Jane Seymour. So much so that when the California couple decided to elope, they chose to elope at the 30th Anniversary of Somewhere in Time at the
Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, Michigan, where it was filmed.
Inspired by the film's unforgettable time travel story, Sally & Jim traveled back in time for their elopement. The Bride donned an elaborate blush ball gown, accented with ivory satin gloves and a lace parasol. Not to be outdone by his Bride, the Groom wore a top hat & white gloves, accented with an old-fashioned pocket watch. It looked like they were time travelers! The Bride & Groom invited six fellow movie buffs they'd just met to be their witnesses. In front of those witnesses & countless onlookers, the Bride & Groom got married in a simple, sweet ceremony on the front porch of the Grand Hotel. After becoming husband & wife, they toured several important Somewhere in Time movie locations, including the Somewhere in Time gazebo. Their wedding was complete with a romantic horse & carriage ride on Mackinac Island where cars are prohibited. It's like a fairy tale come true!
Congratulations, Sally & Jim!
