Say A Little Prayer

Today, I ask you for a favor from the bottom of my heart.

My high school friend Stacie is on the brink of saying good-bye to her brave husband Basil who has been battling brain cancer since 2006.  Stacie & Basil have continued to live a full life of true love & tremendous courage in the face of cancer.  They have inspired many, including me.  Basil has fought too long & too hard- it is time for his angel wings.  Here is Stacie's latest update:

"I laid in his arms all night. My exhaustion led me to a deep sleep. I felt his breathing and thanked God for his breath, his love for me and our children. I thanked God for his life. With out this gift I would be without my two most amazing blessings. He is still fighting as expected ... But things are labored. It's getting much harder. God is wanting him. My love for this man is infinite. His love for you all will be felt from above I promise you this. Today I will continue to honor Basil. He is a survivor, a warrior and an awesome awesome soul. I love you Basil."

Such love & heartbreak in her words!!  When my heart was breaking into a million pieces last February, Stacie was one of the first people to reach out & say "I am here for you."   I will never forget her kindness.  If at all possible, I would like to return the favor.

Whatever you may believe, I ask you to please keep this beautiful family in your thoughts, sending them peace, comfort & grace.  They will feel the extra support & love.  Say a little prayer, wish upon a shining star or throw a new penny into a fountain for them.  Thank you & may you & your loved ones always have peace, comfort & grace.

Update: Basil received his angel wings at 3:35pm today.  Please continue to pray for the new angel & those he now guards from heaven: his wife Stacie, his young sons Evan & Shane & his family & friends.

  2. This post has struck me hard- I cannot stop crying. I am so happy to hear he has been relieved of the pain from cancer and this world, but so very saddened to know the world lost someone like this today. My thoughts are with Stacie, their children, and family today and always. Thank you for sharing this with all of us as well. xoxo

  7. Just stopping in again to say I've been thinking of your friend and their family so, so much these past few days. I lost my Mom when I was 21 so I am especially holding their little ones in my thoughts and prayers. I hope as each day passes the pain of him being gone lessens, and the memories of his life shine brighter. Hugs xoxo
