One last Alt Summit NYC post!  I've shared what I learned from the speakers at Alt Summit NYC.  I've described Martha Stewart's appearance at Alt Summit NYC.  Now it's time to share scenes from the Alt Summit NYC party!  

Sponsored by Martha Stewart & JCPenney in honor of MarthaCelebrations, a lovely line of coordinated party decorations, serveware & stationery, & MarthaPantry, a scrumptious line of quality food, the party was quite beautiful & very fun.  Just what you would expect from Martha Stewart!

A big hit was the awesome rainbow tower candy buffet, featuring glass vessels & yummy candy from MarthaCelebrations:  

The glorious dessert table was delicious offering tasty treats from MarthaPantry & stylish decorations from MarthaCelebrations:

& a party just isn't a party these days without a little photo booth fun!  The Photo booth from Smilebooth, combined with party decor from MarthaCelebrations, elicited big smiles from me & Jen of Jen Kim Creative:


We drank, we ate, we laughed, we enjoyed.  Trust me, fun was had by all!

{noteworthy} Martha Stewart at Alt Summit NYC

Do you remember how I told you I was honored to attend Alt Summit NYC at Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia's headquarters last month?  It was just amazing to hear from & learn from such fabulous speakers, like Grace Bonney of Design*Sponge.  But there is a little something I failed to mention.  

Rumor had it that Martha Stewart would make an appearance at the conference.  Martha had spoken at the Alt Summit NYC the previous year.  Plus the conference was just a hop, skip & a jump away from her office.  But she was nowhere to be found on the schedule of events.  Still, I had hope.  As a longtime fan of Martha Stewart's creativity, I was so hoping the rumor was true!  

Somewhere between the first speaker & the first panel, it happened.  Martha Stewart!!!! 

As you can imagine, the Alt Summit NYC crowd went wild:



I was so excited to hear from Martha Stewart that I forgot to take a single note.  She spoke about her new book, Martha Stewart's Favorite Crafts for Kids, & about creativity.  I wish I could remember more but I thought it was important to stay present in the moment, instead of worrying about taking photos or notes.  Needless to say, seeing & hearing from Martha Stewart  was a really fun experience.  Oh, it was a good, good day!

Craftiness Now

I loved fingerpainting! Fingerpaints from & available at AC Moore

As a kid, I loved arts & crafts. Art was always my favorite subject in school. I was happiest armed with a big box of crayons & a fresh stack of colorful construction paper. Some of my best memories involve afternoons spent fingerpainting on a refrigerator with a good friend. I remember laughter, messes & fun!

Sadly, it's been many, many years since I fingerpainted a refrigerator. A few months ago, I noticed that I really missed arts & crafts. It's not the same designing an invitation or wedding, while I love both. I longed to work with my hands, get messy & have fun. In a dizzy burst of inspiration, I handmade Christmas decorations & 10% off gifts for Koru Wedding Shoppe.

Then I hit a lull. I had zero inspiration for another craft project. Thankfully, my high school friend Jennifer Kim launched Craftiness Now, an awesome blog about the calm art of crafting in a crazy city life. Her blog is full of her craft projects, her resources & her inspiration, along with beautiful photographs. All of sudden . . . inspiration galore! I could turn my armoire into a craft center! I should join AC Moore's rewards program! I would love to make gorgeous candles like those shown above! Now I'm a happy girl with several craft projects in progress, thanks to Jen.
