The Pretty Work of Hey Gorgeous Events Images via The Knotty Bride

Hello, Koru Friends & Family! Here we are at Friday again. You know Friday is the day I collect my favorite inspiration from around the web & share it with you. Today is a little different because I'm bringing you two links only, one from months ago & one from this week. Because these posts are important. Really, really important.

I've been honest that my wedding planning experience, while amazing, wasn't all tulle & roses. Oh, the never-ending joy of opininated family! I haven't gotten into the sticky details (someday) but what I can say is I learned to keep loving these people & stop caring what they think. Letting go.

Tough times in wedding planning comes in all shapes & sizes. I hope it doesn't happen to you but if it does, you are not alone. Here, with much more wisdom, grace & honesty than I can muster on the subject is ever-so-fabulous Rhi of Hey Gorgeous:

A Wedding Planning Story: Part One
A Wedding Planning Story: Part Two

Take heart, Brides. ((HUGS))

Floral Hint

Carnation photo via Hey Gorgeous!

To be honest, it's very, very difficult for me not to share every last detail of our winter wedding with you.
I'd love to post a photo of my wedding dress, our wedding invitations, our cake, etc. It's so tempting! Then I remember it's most important for our treasured wedding guests to be surprised & delighted at our wedding. After our quickly-approaching wedding, I will have plenty of time to share with you. Reason wins.

Mostly.

Except for the flowers. Planning & creating our modern, winter white wedding look with my fabulous florist Liz has been one of the most enjoyable parts of wedding planning. Then to not be able to share any of the details . . . so unfair! I have been bursting to show you our perfect, sample centerpiece ever since I laid my eyes on it. But I resist.

Then I stumbled upon the above photo of a simple, white carnation bouquet on Hey Gorgeous! yesterday. I couldn't resist the golden opportunity. After all, I have written about my love for underrated carnations & my plan to use carnations for our wedding so I can say a little more. Right? This isn't an outright sneak peek, it's more like a sneak hint. Our wedding will feature flowers similar to the photo above from the bouquets to the ceremony to the reception. Sweet & romantic.

That's all I can write & show you for now!

Perfectly Imperfect

Perfectly Imperfect
Much like Life, Much Like Wedding Planning
Photo available at Etsy in NaturalCharmPhotos' shop

I've been thinking about our wedding planning. A lot. First, I read this honest post on A Practical Wedding about how the planning is different than we expect. Then I read this raw post on Hey Gorgeous about how the wedding is far from perfect. My mind started reeling. What did I expect from our planning & what did I get thus far?

I thought our wedding planning would be thrilling & messy. I'd been through the process too many times with planning clients to think that every last moment would be beautiful & memorable. While my wedding mantra is sweet & simple, I counted on sour & complicated too. That's Life. So I was prepared for the good & the bad, right?

Wrong. I was blindsided. I expected a few glitches but the actual glitches stunned me. Deeply hurt me in some cases. How about a church who is unwilling to answer the simplest questions about our ceremony so we can't plan the most important part of our wedding? Then there's the bridesmaid lost over the bridesmaid dress store. Oh, a personal favorite, is family that critiques & gossips about every decision & plan we make. Don't forget about missing people, like my Dad & Grandpa, & wishing they were here to celebrate with us. A hearty welcome to the many, many new gray hairs over how the wedding is so freaking expensive, even for a wedding planner with a winter wedding. & so on. Etc, etc, etc.

Worry. Sadness. Stress. Heartache. All part of the wedding planning game no matter how you play it. We're not there yet- hello wedding!- but I have faith that it's worth it in the end.

(p.s. if you're not reading A Practical Wedding or Hey Gorgeous! . . . why not??!!)
