{bridal bouquets} think pink bouquets

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a cause near & dear to my heart.  Little things like wearing a pink ribbon, buying a pink product or donating your time to a breast cancer charity really make a big difference.  I'm turning the blog pink this week, my small effort to raise breast cancer awareness.  Let's start this pink party with the prettiest pink bridal bouquets!

May these pink beauties remind you to take a breast exam or mammogram yearly.  Early detection saves lives!  & remind every woman you love to do the same.

Up next in the think pink series: pink wedding centerpieces!

tulip love

I feel like just yesterday I was saying hello to Spring; now it's almost time to say good-bye.  With Memorial Day just around the corner, my mind is dreaming of long, lazy Summer days of sunny days, beautiful beaches & refreshing ice cream.  Before we part ways with Spring, I wanted to give a final shout-out to my favorite Spring flower: Tulips!!!!

I love the graceful simplicity of a white tulip bouquet for Spring Brides:

I love the unexpected, pretty look of a closed, white tulip bouquet for Spring Bridesmaids:

I love this white parrot tulip centerpiece almost more than words can describe:

Tulips, you have my Spring heart!

Tell me, what do you love about Spring?

shades of purple

One quick glance at my blog, my web site or my current manicure & it's pretty obvious I like purple.  From the sweet, pretty look of light purple to the regal, grand look of deep purple, I'm pretty much a fan of any shade of purple.  Unfortunately, my husband doesn't share this purple obsession adoration & our home is purple-free zone.  I've been missing it lately so the obvious cure is sharing a lovely collection of purple bridesmaid bouquets with you!

I spy every shade of pretty purple in this lush beauty:

Purple, I adore your amazing self.

Thank you for indulging me in my love of purple!  What is your favorite color?  Will/did you use it in your wedding?

touch o' green

In case you're not aware of the program, Koru Wedding Style has gone green in honor of St. Patrick's Day!  I kicked things off with luscious green bouquets fit for green-loving Brides yesterday.  Where is my green celebration taking us today?

Green bridesmaid dresses, my dears.  & the pretty bridesmaid bouquets to match!  Green may not top the list of most popular bridal party colors but green maids are fresh & pretty.

A good-looking bridal party in cheery kelly green dresses:

A darling white bouquet with yellow/green berries completes the look:

The happy bridesmaids are rocking their dark green frocks:
(does anyone else spot the slight wardrobe malfunction?)

Such a heavenly delight of pale oranges mixed with light greens in this bouquet:

I don't see green bridesmaid dresses in many weddings but I must say after seeing these photos, I'm a fan.  A little touch of green makes for a beautiful wedding!

What color are your bridesmaids wearing?  How did you decide on a color(s)?

going green

Like any good Irish girl, I get excited for St. Patrick's Day!  This Saturday is the big day.  In its honor, Koru Wedding Style in going green this week.  I'm excited to celebrate green in all its wedding glory!!

Now Kermit the Frog claims it isn't easy being green but these green bridal bouquets dare to tell a different story . . .

A bouquet of green tomatillos & cotton?  Yes, please.

Why chose one shade of green?  Mix different shades of lush green flowers accented with pure white flowers:

Go bold with a modern, organic air plant bouquet:

Dusty, muted greens make a unique statement:

Bells of Ireland mixed with white snapdragons is green gorgeousness:

& before you go, here is a little sneak peek of the creation of my 2012 St. Patrick's Day card (to be revealed Friday):

Which is your favorite green bouquet?  Would you consider green for your wedding or has another color stolen your heart?

Spring Flowers

Goodbye, Winter & Hello, Spring!

Spring may not officially start until March 20 but I'm declaring it Spring at Koru Wedding Style.  Winter was disappointing- in so many ways, not just the lack of snow.  I'm ready to move forward & embrace the new beginnings of Spring.  Let's get this Spring party started with with some gorgeous Spring bridal bouquet eye candy.

My favorite Spring flowers are delicate, beautiful tulips:

Peonies are quite lovely too, especially in this loose, garden-style bouquet:

Anemones are daring & modern with their black centers & they look perfect in this small, sweet bouquet:

Did I say tulips were my favorite Spring flower?  I lied.  Or maybe it's simply a tie with graceful, stunning calla lilies:

What is your favorite Spring flower?  Or, like me, do you find it too hard to choose?

Chevy-Loving

While it's about time for my monthly Wedding Wheels post, one getaway car photo has received so much attention on Pinterest that I decided it deserved a post of its own.

Many Bride & Grooms use props for their photo session, whether it be antique furniture or a thank you banner.  This beautiful Bride & Groom were no different, only they chose a lovingly-restored 1952 vintage Chevy pickup for their prop:

This prop + a gorgeous Bride & Groom + a pretty location + a Fall bouquet = a beautiful wedding portrait!

The icing on the cake?  This vintage Chevy is no random prop.  It was passed down from the Groom's grandfather & restored by the Groom, his father & his brother.  Props with sentimental value, I adore it!

What props do you like to see in wedding photos?  Will you or did you use props?

Family-Style Vintage Wedding

As much as I love poring over gorgeous weddings on my favorite wedding blogs, I adore looking at our family's & friends' weddings even more.  Those wedding photos touch my heart in a way no others can.  Two weeks ago, my mother-in-law proudly showed me her Mom's wedding photo.  It was a real treat to see our dear, beautiful Nanang's wedding in the Philippines:

But wait, it gets better.  My mother-in-law urged me to look a little closer.  I still didn't see it.  She pointed out Nanang's calla lily bouquet.  A bridal bouquet strikingly similar to my own:

The story might be more of a Hallmark moment if I had specifically chosen this bridal bouquet because it was like Nanang's bouquet of long ago.  But I like stories that are my own instead of perfectly polished.

Nanang, in a country far away, in a time very different, chose a calla lily bouquet for the day she was a Bride & became a Wife.  Many moons later, I carried a similar bouquet on the day I married her grandson & became his Wife.  On the day of our positive new beginnings, we had love in our hearts & calla lilies in our arms.

XOXO

Koru Kate Finds: 3rd Edition

Oh yes, this is an original!

This bridal bouquet is a Koru Kate Finds original!

Waaaay back when I started Koru Wedding Shoppe, I turned to my talented brother-in-law Tim, of Timothy Glenn Photographers, to provide images for my web site. I had a hard time selecting a few photographs because there were so many beautiful ones of bouquets, cakes & other delicious wedding details.

The tulip bridal bouquet photograph was the exception. It caught my eye & heart from the very moment I saw it. So full, so lush, so perfect. Oh, & the colors, that perfect soft yellow with delicate green accents. To me, the tulip bouquet is the epitome of beautiful & therefore, it graces my web site & my home studio. Every day it reminds of the lovely & the pretty & how lucky I am to work in the wedding world.

Six years have past since I first saw this photo, six years of poring over the great likes of Martha Stewart Weddings & Style Me Pretty. I can say with 100% honestly that this tulip bouquet remains my favorite.

I hope the tulip bouquet inspires you & brings a zest of pretty to your Monday!

Beautiful in Pink

Happy Mr. & Mrs. + Gorgeous Bouquet

How pretty!

Pink isn't my color but it's definitely my best friend's color. She & pink are best buds. It came as no surprise when she chose bright, vibrant pink as her color for her Summer wedding. Now this was no Blush & Bashful pink situation like "Steel Magnolias." Pink was the accent color used thoughtfully here & there, like pink bridesmaid dresses, pink & white bridesmaid bouquets & pink & white centerpieces.

What had my heart was her bridal bouquet of bright pink roses.
This bouquet was a classic look of open pink roses tightly massed with no greenery. So simple, yet absolutely stunning. The bouquet was beautiful in person, even more striking in photos.

Beyond that, a bright, happy pink bridal bouquet was so perfectly her, a gorgeous accent for a beautiful Bride!

Koru Kate Finds: 1st Edition

Happy Monday, Koru Family & Friends!

Welcome to our newest feature on Koru Wedding Style: Koru Kate Finds! Every Monday, I will feature wedding finds to inspire you. From jewelry to bouquets to invitations & more, you will enjoy the fun & creative here to brighten the start of each week. Every once in awhile, I may share a non-wedding find with you but I'll keep those few & far between. Let's get this wedding party started!

My first finds come from one of my absolute favorite collections, Kate Spade New York. I'm obsessed with the entire collection but I have two stars in my eyes at the moment. The "I Do" and "Mrs" necklaces are so simple & sweet they make my heart patter. I would have loved, LOVED to have gotten one of these adorable necklaces for my bridal shower. The "I Do" necklace could have graced my neck for my wedding festivities, then a switch to the "Mrs" necklace for my honeymoon.

Koru Loves, it's too late for me & these necklaces but you still have a chance!

It's A Wrap! 12th Edition

Color me a rainbow!

There were a few days when I wasn't sure I would survive the week without melting into a puddle but here I am. I did find a few lovelies from around the web to keep my mind off the sweltering temperatures:

Why yes, I adore rainbows too!

Let's hear it for charming New Jersey weddings!

Let's talk about married sex.

Sex again (quite the topic this week).
This one is for the Mommies!

Some lovely little advice about branding your business.

Happy Weekend!

Floral Hint

Carnation photo via Hey Gorgeous!

To be honest, it's very, very difficult for me not to share every last detail of our winter wedding with you.
I'd love to post a photo of my wedding dress, our wedding invitations, our cake, etc. It's so tempting! Then I remember it's most important for our treasured wedding guests to be surprised & delighted at our wedding. After our quickly-approaching wedding, I will have plenty of time to share with you. Reason wins.

Mostly.

Except for the flowers. Planning & creating our modern, winter white wedding look with my fabulous florist Liz has been one of the most enjoyable parts of wedding planning. Then to not be able to share any of the details . . . so unfair! I have been bursting to show you our perfect, sample centerpiece ever since I laid my eyes on it. But I resist.

Then I stumbled upon the above photo of a simple, white carnation bouquet on Hey Gorgeous! yesterday. I couldn't resist the golden opportunity. After all, I have written about my love for underrated carnations & my plan to use carnations for our wedding so I can say a little more. Right? This isn't an outright sneak peek, it's more like a sneak hint. Our wedding will feature flowers similar to the photo above from the bouquets to the ceremony to the reception. Sweet & romantic.

That's all I can write & show you for now!

Charming Bouquet

Paloma's Nest, the home of modern heirlooms, has been on my radar for awhile. I've always admired their Ring Bearer Bowls as a chic, meaningful alternative to ring bearer pillows.
Since we don't have a ring bearer, I counted them out for our wedding. Imagine my surprise & delight when I came upon their custom bouquet charms:

Image via Paloma's Nest

I'd love to have a bouquet charm to carry down the aisle with a few sweet words & our wedding date. I'm a complete sucker for little touches like this! After the wedding, we can use the charm in a wedding shadowbox (we're registered for this one) or as a holiday ornament. My wheels are spinning!

And if we had a ring bearer, this is the ring bearer bowl I would choose:

The Sun. The Moon. The Stars. For You. Does it get any sweeter than that?!

Bouquet Head

From Fab Sugar

I was getting my daily dose of celebrity gossip from People when I noticed a link for bridal bouquet hair pieces. I was way too curious to pass this up. I followed the link to FabSugar & found this photo featuring, sure enough, a bridal bouquet perched in the model's hair. According to FabSugar, Douglas Hannat revealed his Spring 2010 Bridal Collection with every model sporting a bridal bouquet in their hair. Really?

I have experienced a Bride or two or ten complaining that their traditional bridal bouquet is too heavy to carry for long. Can you imagine those heavy flowers on your head? I mean, there is a tasteful orchid tucked into a chignon & then there is a bridal bouquet taking over a hairstyle.

Even if this becomes the most popular trend for weddings, I can safely say that I won't be wearing my bouquet in my hair. I'm happy to carry it, thank you.

What do you think? Would you wear this? Will this really be a trend?
