{noteworthy} summer vacation

Happy Friday!  Are you wondering why you're looking at Bailey sunning himself at the dog beach instead of the Sneak Peek for next Wedding Wednesday?  Well, my loves, Koru Wedding is taking a summer vacation!  The blog will be dark for the next two weeks as Bailey, my husband & I enjoy some rest, relaxation & sunshine with family & friends.  I will return on Wednesday, July 17 with a fabulous Vermont wedding, followed by plenty of wedding inspiration plus a little personal stuff mixed in for good measure.  You didn't think I would forget to give you every sugary detail of last week's cupcake tour, did you?  Hold tight, have some patience & I will be back very soon!

In the meantime, I'm wishing you long summer days of sun & fun!

{puppy love} third anniversary

Yesterday, we celebrated something very special: the third anniversary of Bailey's adoption!

On June 26, 2010, Bailey arrived on P.E.T.S. from Arkansas, where he was found wandering alone on a country road & rescued by an amazing foster family & animal rescue group All About Labs.  After about one month of talking to the rescue group & foster family, I was over the moon for Bailey's arrival & I still remember it like it was yesterday.  Instantly, Bailey became a part of our family, our home & our hearts.  This little tri-color wonder is as sweet, adorable & mischievous as can be!  He drives me crazy & melts my heart on a daily basis.  I wouldn't change a thing!

On Bailey's behalf, I would like to remind you to adopt cats & digs from your local shelter or from a rescue group.  Our Bailey was cut, dirty & infected when we was found in rural Arkansas.  Despite this, he was still so sweet & trusting when a kind-hearted couple stopped to help him.  God knows where he would be without them & All About Labs, the rescue group who facilitated his adoption.  Sadly, too many animals don't get saved.  These innocent animal deserve a second chance just like Bailey!

Happy Adoption Anniversary, Bailey!  Let's celebrate many, many more together!  xoxo

{Woodsy Texas Elopement} Brandy & Jacob

Happy Wedding Wednesday!

Elopements truly warm my wedding-loving heart.  There is just something so romantic & special about skipping the hoopla & the traditions & just concentrating on the love.  Plus cake & champagne in this case.  Darling elopements like this are proof that all you need is love!  Tilt Shift Studios shows us the beauty:

Brandy & Jacob eloped on June 12, 2012 at the Star of Texas Bed & Breakfast in Brownwood, Texas. Despite a tornado warning & rain earlier, the evening sun broke through the clouds & provided the perfect wedding atmosphere.  The Bride rocked a little white dress with a black sash & carried a white bouquet tied with her something blue ribbon & the Groom wore a complimentary black ensemble with a white tie.  On the peaceful, secluded bed & breakfast grounds, the Bride & Groom said "I Do!" during an intimate ceremony.  The new husband & wife celebrated by cutting their simple white wedding cake decorated with white flowers & sharing some bubbly.  Then they departed to document their special day amid the woodsy, natural Texas scenery.  A relaxing, beautiful elopement for a lovely couple!

My Favorite Moment: The kiss!

My Favorite Detail: The Bride's something blue- the blue ribbon tied around her simple white bridal bouquet.

Congratulations, Brandy & Jacob!

{noteworthy} lessons from Alt Summit NYC

Last Thursday, I was honored to attend Alt Summit NYC at Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia's headquarters in the Starrett-Lehigh Building with my talented, longtime friend Jen of Jen Kim Creative.  The day was incredibly inspiring with creative bloggers & entrepreneurs sharing their wisdom, including a few words from Martha Stewart!  My only regret is that I didn't get to meet & chat with every single one of my incredible fellow attendees.  But I did learn a lot & I'd like to share one juicy tidbit from each speaker.  From the practical to the light-hearted & everything in between, there is a lot of wisdom here!

"Always be learning, always be streamlining, always be teaching," Grace Bonney of Design*Sponge

"Set a goal & you always know where you are going.  It clears a path," Kathleen King of Tate's Bake Shop

"Be present in your life," Stephanie Housley of Coral & Tusk

"Get out of your own way, don't let the business run you," Bob McClure of McClure Pickles

"Be inspired & know you are doing enough," Tracey Stewart of Moomah the Magazine

"Aspirational identity is always important: we can shape who we want to be," Keenan Cummings of Days

"Create an environment where anything is possible," Sarah Paul of Blue Q

"Superwomen died of exhaustion," Isabel Kallman of Alpha Mom

"Find value in your story," Jen Lee Koss of Brika

"What I need to do is lighten the f*ck up about a lot of sh*t," Valentine Freemen of Ace Hotel

"Branch out but stay on the same tree," Garance Dore of Garance Dore

It was hard to pick just one tidbit from each speaker because, trust me, everyone shared a wealth of information. Hopefully, my hand-selected quotes inspire you a bit.  Every tidbit easily applies to general life, work life, blog life, personal life & more.  Take each tidbit to heart!

(Full Alt Summit NYC recep, including photos & details of the party designed by Martha Stewart, is scheduled for mid-July when I return from vacation.  Stay tuned!)

alt summit nyc!!!

Cue the confetti!  Today, I'm attending Alt Summit New York City, a workshop for beautiful, brilliant blogging.  I missed the fun last year & I'm just over the moon to be participating this year, especially since I'll be going with the oh so talented Jen of Jen Kim Made.  I've been poring over the amazing schedule for weeks & I can't believe the day is finally here.  I'm prepared to meet great people & be very, very inspired.  Most of all, I hope to learn a little something to make this sweet Koru blog the best it can be!

{Preppy Green & Blue Vermont Wedding} Megan & Jim

Happy Wedding Wednesday!

Today, we're back in Vermont where the grass is green, the bridges are covered & the weddings are lovely.  There's a major preppy factor in this wedding with its blue & green color scheme & it abundance of seersucker.  Not to mention the prettiest green bridal bouquet you have ever laid your eyes upon!  Lucas DeSousa Photography shows us the beauty:

Megan & Jim got married on June 30, 2012 at the Woodstock Inn & Resort in Woodstock, Vermont.  To complement the idyllic Vermont setting, their wedding day was sunny & gorgeous.  A preppy tone was carried throughout the day with blue & green details.  While the bridesmaids donned blue dresses with green shawls, the Groom & his groomsmen sported seersuckers suits and saddle shoes.  The beautiful Bride wore a flowing white gown tied with a taupe ribbon and carried the most incredible green bouquet including roses & orchids.  It was the prettiest of wedding days for the happy couple!

My Favorite Moment: I love the Bride & Groom stealing a kiss by the covered bridge.

My Favorite Detail: I adore the Bride's bouquet, it's such a fresh shade of green!

Congratulations, Megan & Jim!

rain, rain & more rain

In my little corner of the world, we're experiencing a rainy spring.  Rain, rain & more rain day after day, including weekends during prime wedding season.  I decided it was high time for a little rainy day wedding inspiration.  With the right attitude & fun rain gear, a rainy day can't put a damper on anything, let alone a beautiful wedding!  I've got the photos to prove it:

See, a little rain on your wedding day isn't so bad!

{fur babies + weddings} gone to the dogs

My heart melted when I saw this oh so adorable beagle flower pup!  It's probably because she reminds me a bit of my precious beagle-basset hound mix, Bailey.  I'm not just partial to beagles & shih-tzus.  I'm pretty much a fan of any cute pup included in the wedding.  Take a look:

A million times YES! to this sweetie in his preppy bow tie:
Someone is too fabulous for words:
A Frenchie who is clearly rocking those flowers:
This rather dapper Boston terrier was made for a tux:

A wedding gone to the dogs isn't such a bad thing!  Which cutie is your favorite?
