{Sneak Peek} Candyce & Tom

Happy Friday to you!  Next week, I'm continuing the local New Jersey/New York wedding theme with a very special New Jersey wedding.  Here is a sneak peek of next Wedding Wednesday:

Not only does the couple live in Hoboken, they got married in Hoboken.  This is as local as local gets!!  The Bride & Groom tied the knot at the beautiful, historical Our Lady of Grace Church, mere blocks away from my home.  I am so excited to show you a little slice of Hoboken, not to mention a fantastic wedding.  Please join me next Wedding Wednesday!

Happy Easter, Happy Passover, Happy Celebrations to you & yours!

Wedding Wheels, Vintage Checker Taxicab (aka my favorite!)

Hailing a taxi & being in New York City go hand-in-hand.  It's only natural that many New Jersey & New York couples opt for a taxi on their wedding day.  Even though the last one was removed from service in 1999, the old world charm of a vintage Checker taxicab is a popular choice.  Fortunately, you can rent vintage Checker taxicabs for weddings, like I did (see photo above!).  I'm not the only one, I frequently spy vintage Checker taxicabs in New Jersey & New York weddings & today's Wedding Wheels is all about those classic, bright yellow beauties!

Just as a vintage Checker taxicab is forever a symbol of New York City, it will forever look right at home in New Jersey & New York weddings.  Once a classic, always a classic.

{Classic Manhattan Wedding} Sam & Justin

Happy Wedding Wednesday!

Today's wedding is the first in a series of local New Jersey & New York weddings, just to give you an idea of how marriages are celebrated in my corner of the world.  I fell head over heels in love with this wedding with just one quick glance at the classic, timeless photos in Times Square.  But I think you'll agree- there is much, much more to love about this Manhattan wedding.  Let's take a look at the beautiful day captured by Le Image, Inc.:

Sam & Justin got married on August 25, 2012 in New York City.  Their beautiful wedding featured a crisp, end of summer color palette & a sweet love bird theme set against the gritty, yet glamourous backdrop of Manhattan.  The Bride & Groom exchanged vows at The Church of Saint Luke on Hudson Street in Greenwich Village.  After officially becoming husband & wife, they were whisked away in a vintage Packard.  The Bride & Groom stopped & took timeless black & white photos in Times Square.  The cocktail & dinner reception was held at 3 West Club, a midtown establishment known for its old world charm.  The Bride & Groom added their own rustic touches to their celebration with overflowing hydrangea centerpieces flanked by bark candles & bark table numbers.  All in all, a classic Manhattan love story!

My Favorite Moment:  The Bride & Groom riding in the backseat of their vintage Packard with slightly nervous looks on their faces.  That's exactly how I feel riding around the crazy streets of Manhattan!

My Favorite Detail:  The wedding cake takes it- the original design & color captivate me!

Congratulations, Sam & Justin!

{escort cards} metro

Since we are diving into New York & New Jersey weddings for the next few weeks, I will bringing you a steady diet of New York & New Jersey details that I adore.  Our first contender is the MetroCard escort card!

If there is one item that resides in the wallet of every New Yorker, it's a MetroCard.  A MetroCard is a bit like a Manhattan passport.  It is accepted on city subways & buses; it can take you anywhere & everywhere!  As such, MetroCard escort cards are an absolutely perfect detail for a New York City wedding.  Or for a New York City couple getting married elsewhere.

MetroCard escort cards bring local flavor & charm to the special occasion!

{puppy love} five

Beagle Bailey is celebrating his fifth birthday today!

This guy, my little tri-color buddy.  He is as sweet & as mischievous & as lazy as the day is long.  While we do a lot for Bailey - you know, provide him with all the food, safety, comfort & love a beagle could ever need - he gives us much, much more in return.  He fills our home with love & happiness; he is our baby family.  He makes us smile & laugh.  Every. single. day.

On Bailey's behalf, I would like to remind you to adopt cats & dogs from your local shelter or from a rescue group.  Our Bailey was found wandering a country road in Arkansas & he was dirty, cut & infected.  Despite this, he was still so sweet & trusting when a kind-hearted couple stopped to help him.  God knows where he would be without them & All About Labs, the rescue group who facilitated his adoption.  Sadly, some animals don't get saved.  These animals deserve a second chance just like Bailey!

Happy Birthday, Bailey!  xoxo

{bridal bouquets} brighten my day

Spring arrived yesterday!  Or that's the rumor I heard.  Mother Nature missed the memo because Hoboken temperatures are in the 30s.  Since I can't find warm weather & pretty flowers outside yet, I'm going to create a beautiful space of bright, happy flowers here.

Thank you, dear colorful flowers, for brightening my (& hopefully yours too) day!

{escort card display} in bed with carnations

If you've been around here long enough, you know that I show love for carnations now & then.  Carnations are pretty, simple & inexpensive- what's not to love?  Just look at those sweet carnations bordering classic roses in the bridal bouquet above!  & yet.  Carnations are often unloved & forgotten in the wedding world.  However, I am noticing them a bit more in weddings (three cheers!) & one little carnation trend is catching my eye & heart: escort cards nestled in a bed of carnations.  Take a look:

I adore the bed of carnations for escort cards, especially since it's a big impact without a big price tag.  From the romantic look of the pink carnations to the modern look of the yellow carnations, this trend fits any wedding style.  Looks & sounds like a winner to me!

{St. Patrick's Day} chevron-style crafting

St. Patrick's Day has come & gone!  I enjoyed our annual St. Patrick's Day festivities of corned beef & cabbage dinner made & hosted by my sister & brother-in-law.  So yummy & such fun!

Just like we have corned beef & cabbage every year, I always make St. Patrick's Day cards for my family.  Traditions, traditions!  This year, I picked a simple, stylish chevron shamrock design on kraft paper card stock.  It was so simple to make using my Silhouette Portrait machine!  I picked paper in two shades of green & the Silhouette cut each into solid shamrocks & chevron shamrocks.  With a base of a solid shamrock in one shade of green layered with a chevron shamrock in another shade of green, I quickly & easily crafted this cute design for my St. Patrick's Day cards.

As always, a big thanks to the greenest, cutest bear, Miss Siobhan, for her excellent St. Patrick's Day card modeling skills!

{Wedding Cakes} sweetly green

When I started collecting green images for my St. Patrick's Day theme, I was really surprised & excited to discover a darling collection of green wedding cakes.  I ditched my original idea to feature a few beautiful green wedding details.  After all, these green beauties deserved a post of their own!

Green ruffles upon green ruffles make this wedding cake too cute for words:

What is green all over & decorated with icing emeralds & pearls?  An absolutely regal, emerald-inspired wedding cake:

Just the perfect shade of mint green for a lovely wedding cake:

The saying goes an apple a day keeps the doctor away. Does it count if the green apple sits atop a delightful ombre polka dot wedding cake?

A beautiful emerald & white wedding cake demonstrated why emerald is ranked as the Color of 2013 by Pantone, :

It may not be easy being green but these green wedding cakes sure make it look pretty sweet!

{Bridal Bouquets} going green

Like any corned beef & cabbage loving Irish girl, I get very excited for St. Patrick's Day!  This Sunday is the big day.  In its honor, Koru Wedding Style is going green.  I love to celebrate green in all its wedding glory!

Following the tradition of last year's green wedding celebration, let's start this party with bridal bouquets to make you green with envy . . .

Luscious shades of green, plenty of texture, bold striped ribbon & simple dragonfly accent are the recipe for green bridal bouquet perfection:

Succulents remain all the rage in weddings; one look at this green bridal bouquet & it's easy to see why:

Why hello, green gorgeousness:

A little boho & a very green, a fern bridal bouquet is very unique:

Lots of greenery & just a touch of flowers? Yes, please:

Green, you may have stolen my heart!
