Wedding Wheels, Old School
Kids headed back to school today, many of them riding classic yellow & black school buses. Those buses aren't just for school days anymore. They make for a quirky wedding getaway too!

Wedding Wheels, Tubes
The tandem bicycle wedding getaway from yesterday's Mackinac Island wedding was pretty grand but this decorated inner tube wedding getaway may take the prize as the most fun & the most original wedding getaway of all! So summery, so perfect. All you need is a cute bathing suit, Just Married inner tubes & a scenic river. Instead of changing into a formal going away outfit, slip into your bathing suit & head for the water. Jump into your inner tubes & float your way into happily ever after!
Want to see more creative grand departures from weddings? Official Wedding Wheels post coming next week!

Wedding Wheels, Vintage Checker Taxicab (aka my favorite!)
Hailing a taxi & being in New York City go hand-in-hand. It's only natural that many New Jersey & New York couples opt for a taxi on their wedding day. Even though the last one was removed from service in 1999, the old world charm of a vintage Checker taxicab is a popular choice. Fortunately, you can rent vintage Checker taxicabs for weddings, like I did (see photo above!). I'm not the only one, I frequently spy vintage Checker taxicabs in New Jersey & New York weddings & today's Wedding Wheels is all about those classic, bright yellow beauties!
Just as a vintage Checker taxicab is forever a symbol of New York City, it will forever look right at home in New Jersey & New York weddings. Once a classic, always a classic.

Wedding Wheels, winter-style
Welcome to Wedding Wheels, winter-style. This is a special edition exploring the cool & unusual modes of getaway transportation used by winter Brides & Grooms. Naturally, I adore it when I spy a winter Bride donning a fur stole & traveling in a vintage taxi just like I did for my winter wedding. (Seriously, that is the exact same cab from my wedding. I highly recommend Film Cars for tri-state area Brides!). But with the ice & snow of winter offering lots of options, it's pretty cool to see winter wedding getaways that don't involve wheels at all!
After eloping on a gondola at the top of the mountain, this cool, brave & athletic couple spent their wedding day skiing the slopes:
You don't see this everyday: a winter Bride & Groom taking a spin on their ice skates!
Okay, okay- this winter couple may not have actually used the vintage snowshoes & sled but they still get major points:
A horse-drawn carriage ride through the snow on a winter wedding day just seems so dreamy & romantic:
Now if I could just find a winter Bride & Groom racing around on a snowmobile or riding a snowplow, my Wedding Wheels, winter-style collection would be complete!

Wedding Wheels, 2013 Debut
Welcome to Wedding Wheels, one of my very favorite Koru Wedding Style series. It's pretty simple: I love weddings & I love cars & I adore seeing the cool & unusual modes of transportation Brides & Grooms choose on their wedding day. Vintage cars, bicycles for two, rustic rowboats, decorated golf carts, etc. Just about every month, I bring you my very favorite Wedding Wheels finds. Today, I collected a fun little sampling of Wedding Wheels for the 2013 debut- enjoy!
A classic Mercedes for a classic couple:
Those that bike together, stay together:
I'm a big fan of vintage taxis for Manhattan weddings but this pedicab getaway is pretty darn fun:
Just the two of you in the middle of a lake on your wedding day- so romantic!
A vintage blue & white moped for the happy couple- SWOON!!!
Isn't it fun how creative couples get with their wedding getaways?! I hope you enjoyed the first 2013 edition of Wedding Wheels!

Wedding Wheels, Dedicated to Fin
I'm feeling a bit nostalgic on the subject of cars today because very early this morning, we watched my husband's flood-damaged car being towed away for good. I have to admit, I was a little sad to see it go. I remember the first time my husband, obviously just a guy I was dating back then, picked me up in that car. Even as I remind myself it's just a car and others lost much more from Hurricane Sandy, I can't shake the lingering touch of sadness.
So today's Wedding Wheels post is dedicated to Fin. Yes, I name my cars- did you really expect anything less from someone who loves cars?! While Wedding Wheels celebrates all unique and unusual wedding getaways including cars, boats, bicycles and more, today's post is all cool cars, in honor of Fin.
I love me a good old yellow cab but I'm digging this retro white taxi:
You can never go wrong with a classic, cherry red Mercedes convertible:
Hello, you incredible Great Gatsby beauty:
Ah, a hot rod getaway car has the same spunk & spirit as Fin:

Wedding Wheels, Koru Edition
Have you noticed that many of the featured real weddings included some pretty cool modes of wedding transportation? I was so excited about it that I wanted to scream & shout until you noticed. In the end, I decided to go the more subtle route of letting you enjoy whatever you wanted from each beautiful wedding, then throw the fun wedding wheels in your face in this post. Maybe not so subtle but whatever.
Brittany & Carter had a gorgeous creekside wedding & afterwards, they chartered a boat from their reception to their after party. The new Mr. & Mrs. stole a quiet moment before they sailed away:
Wendy & Ramey had a lovely DIY wedding in Nashville & they found the downtown streets so cool that they decided to walk:
Corley & Jake had an elegant, peacock-themed wedding & they made their Grand Departure in a Cinderella carriage fit for a princess Bride:
Julie & Jim had a beautiful Florida wedding full of sweet surprises, including a sentimental Skype session with the Bride's brother who was stationed overseas. Once the surprises were said & done, the Bride & Groom rode into happily ever after in a golf cart:
Ashley & Jeremy had a romantic rural wedding on hot summer day & they never stopped smiling. Just look at those big smiles as they pose next to their vintage pick-up truck:
Shelly & Kevin got married in an antiquated automobile factory converted into a creative event space so I knew I could count on them for a unique set of wheels. They didn't disappoint with their 1929 Packard getaway car:
Jen & Ben had an incredible lakeside wedding which inspired their boat getaway:
As you can imagine, it's been an absolute honor to feature weddings with couples who got creative with their Grand Departures. I hope to bring you more in the future! Which set of wheels is your favorite?

{Real Wedding} Julie & Jim
When the wedding photographer, Tonya Beaver Photography, sends you a wedding & says the theme is love, you know you're in for a real treat. With a thoughtful Groom surprising his Bride with flowers at the start of the day & pulling off just about the sweetest reception surprise at the end of the night, this wedding is truly all about love. Let's take a look:
Julie & Jim got married at Ponte Vendra Inn & Club, an oceanfront beach resort in northeast Florida. Julie planned the day carefully, adding unexpected choices & pink touches to personalize their wedding day. The glowing Bride donned flip flops instead of stilettos, enjoyed a cupcake tower instead of a wedding cake & picked a golf cart getaway over a limousine.
But what the Bride didn't plan for were two surprises from the Groom that truly defined this affair of love. The Groom arranged the delivery white roses to the Bride days before the wedding & signed them from "Your Future Husband." Then the Groom saved the very best for last. During the reception, he surprised his Bride with a larger-than-life Skype session with her brother, who is stationed overseas, & melted her heart. Oh, how very sweet!
Congratulations, Julie & Jim!
