{escort card display} in bed with carnations

If you've been around here long enough, you know that I show love for carnations now & then.  Carnations are pretty, simple & inexpensive- what's not to love?  Just look at those sweet carnations bordering classic roses in the bridal bouquet above!  & yet.  Carnations are often unloved & forgotten in the wedding world.  However, I am noticing them a bit more in weddings (three cheers!) & one little carnation trend is catching my eye & heart: escort cards nestled in a bed of carnations.  Take a look:

I adore the bed of carnations for escort cards, especially since it's a big impact without a big price tag.  From the romantic look of the pink carnations to the modern look of the yellow carnations, this trend fits any wedding style.  Looks & sounds like a winner to me!

for the love of carnations

Since I started this blog, I've dedicated a few posts to showing some love for the mostly unloved, unappreciated carnations.  They may not be flashy or exotic like some of their flower friends but carnations are pretty & affordable.  I used carnations for our wedding because I stuck to a very strict, tight flower budget.  It seems I'm not the only one as I'm seeing carnations used stylishly & beautifully in weddings more & more.  Keep an open mind & take a look!

Carnation heads strung on invisible wire make for a stunning pink ombre ceremony backdrop!  It would be just as pretty in any color, indoors or out:

Carnation pomadors hanging from lovely ribbons are the perfect touch for another outdoor ceremony.  The poms would be just as pretty decorating the aisle of a church:

Small & simple, this darling carnation centerpiece is well-sized for a cocktail table.  Just make it a little larger if you have bigger tables:

A creative, overflowing centerpiece of carnations in shades of peaches & pinks:

I saved the very, very best for last.  How much do you love this modern, purple ombre carnation centerpiece?

Budget-friendly Brides, you can see it's easy to make inexpensive carnations into great wedding looks.  Give carnations a chance!

Koru Kate Finds: Snowy Tree

Oh yes, once again, I spy stylish carnations . . .

Koru Kate Finds is Holiday-style with this festive, snowy tree decoration!!!

I'm loving the snowy tree for holiday parties & weddings.  Turn your holiday table into a winter wonderland with your snowy tree, coordinating ornaments & candles.  Simple, inexpensive & attractive!

For this holiday DIY project, you'll need carnations, small Christmas ornaments, cute container, floral foam & a little time on your hands.  Then follow the easy instructions from Miss Martha here.

If a snowy tree is not quite your style, you're in luck because carnations come in a rainbow of colors.  Bright red carnations with silver ornaments would make a bold holiday statement.  Lime green carnations with dark green & silver ornaments would make a modern holiday statement.  Choose your favorite color & use your imagination.

My holiday mind thinks the snowy tree may be the perfect hostess gift for my sister on Christmas!

Koru Kate Finds: Carnation Glory

I've said it before & I'll say it again: I like carnations.  Carnations come in a gorgeous rainbow of colors, don't cost a fortune & easily last from getting ready to the last dance- yup, I'm a fan.  I did lots & lots of research on chic carnation arrangements when I was planning my wedding.  Almost one year later, I'm pleased to run across new wedding inspiration for carnation-lovers.  Today's post is dedicated to those Brides who share the carnation love with me.

The Carnation Topiaries would look beautiful in any color to match your wedding decor:

I can envision these pretties lining the aisle, decorating cocktail tables or, with a few at varying heights, serving as a reception centerpiece.

This Carnation Cake would add a simple, sweet look to any wedding reception:

I believe this cake would look quite lovely in any carnation shade.  Plus add more tiers, square tiers &/or a patterned linen for more pizazz!

What do you think about using carnations for a wedding? Yes or no?

Floral Hint

Carnation photo via Hey Gorgeous!

To be honest, it's very, very difficult for me not to share every last detail of our winter wedding with you.
I'd love to post a photo of my wedding dress, our wedding invitations, our cake, etc. It's so tempting! Then I remember it's most important for our treasured wedding guests to be surprised & delighted at our wedding. After our quickly-approaching wedding, I will have plenty of time to share with you. Reason wins.

Mostly.

Except for the flowers. Planning & creating our modern, winter white wedding look with my fabulous florist Liz has been one of the most enjoyable parts of wedding planning. Then to not be able to share any of the details . . . so unfair! I have been bursting to show you our perfect, sample centerpiece ever since I laid my eyes on it. But I resist.

Then I stumbled upon the above photo of a simple, white carnation bouquet on Hey Gorgeous! yesterday. I couldn't resist the golden opportunity. After all, I have written about my love for underrated carnations & my plan to use carnations for our wedding so I can say a little more. Right? This isn't an outright sneak peek, it's more like a sneak hint. Our wedding will feature flowers similar to the photo above from the bouquets to the ceremony to the reception. Sweet & romantic.

That's all I can write & show you for now!
